You did the right thing by grabbing the mattress and running for a safe place. I'm glad to know you are safe!

It's hard to leave the pets behind, but you would have been severely injured if you had gone out looking for them. Lee intelligent people would have been outdoors or (worse) running for the camera.

Any time there is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, there is the possibility that there will be a tornado. Radar will not always pick up a tornado touchdown, so meteorologists depend on trained spotters to make reports about what is happening on the ground. Luckily, you were in an area where you could be warned ahead of time; someone must have spotted the tornado and called it in to the NWS and emergency personnel.

Few people realize how dangerous severe thunderstorms can actually be and how quickly a tornado can form. No less dangerous is the flash flooding, large hail and things like downbursts that these storms can produce.

My parents just got home and my mom squeeze the air out of me and my sister..lol

all is well and ok and good...i lost one lil chick from the storm but everything is ok

Hey I went out when it first started raining

I wouldn't go out during the middle of a storm I am a little bit dumb though and anyway there was no tornado here LOL I went out after it stopped so I would have lived I think. We have another storm on the way!

I am so glad all is well........... its all very scary - there have been so many tornado's already this year, its going to be a record setting year for sure.

We had a tornado 12 miles south of us last night.
and we're just outside the warning area for one today.

Oh my! I'm glad you are all okay. Tornadoes can be absolutely terrifying.

Sorry you lost a chick, but it could have been a lot worse than that. Chicks, chickens, animals, all of them are replaceable. Your family is not. Thank heavens that chick is all you lost!
