OMG! We saw something!! But, is it normal?

Put that flashlight down, and take a step back from the incubator.

"Almost thou persuadest me to... " incubate. You all have so much FUN hatching eggs...I am beginning to consider trying it. But that would mean that I would have to keep a Rooster...and have fertile eggs. Oooooh, Farmer's Market customers don't like that! Talk me into this thing....

I have hatchery chicks on the way, and I'm a basketcase waiting. I can't imagine what I would be like with an incubator!

I have SEVERAL roosters, and I am not currently hatching my own hens' eggs. I'm getting them from other sources. See? Having a rooster doesn't have anything to do with it. < *innocent expression* >

Yes! Sounds good! Wait till you see a profile of their little beak or foot in there moving around. I love it!

I know what you mean. I am on day 13 with my first attempt at incubating. The only flashlight I could find on day 3 was running low on batteries so wasn't very bright. I tried anyway and saw a dark blob but didn't know if it was just the yolk. So on day 10 I went out and bought a nice little maglight and candled that night. I still saw a dark blob but then it moved! I was really excited to know something is happening.

I bought a colman 137 lumen LED flashlight for hunting(At Wal-Mart), and boy does it do better at candleing. Helps me see through even the darkest of eggs!

Hubby and I candled a couple of nights ago, now I'm on edge wondering if my eggs are gonna hatch! How do you know if they are even alive when you candle them? I wish they would wave at me and yell "I'm alive in here" or something.....

Congratulations. Now that the pleasantries are done. Step away from the bator and Sit On Your Hands. Do As I Say.
