Introductory post was "Finally Gonna Do This".....well, I've gone and done it.
I just ordered 8 chicks. They'll be arriving mid April. Time to kick the plan into high gear!

(For the curious...RIR, Barred Plymouth Rock, Australorp, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Dominique, and a Buckeye from MyPetChicken)

Chickens are alright, they don't require too much upkeep.... but they do drain your wallet, they eat a lot. I didn't think 50 lbs of feed would be gone soo fast but it does, especially when they get older!

Yep, I went through 100lbs of feed in two weeks. I try to offset cost by selling eggs and other animal products.

100% agree with this.. First it's chickens, Then ducks,
then turkeys and guineas, pheasants and geese. Currently looking for some emu chicks now..
Pigs are especially dangerous.. 2 might turn into 14

Yay! Good for you! My chickens have brought me unparalleled amounts of joy (don't tell my hubby, kids, or the dog).

I swore I'd not fall victim to chicken math, but in 76 days, I'm expecting my newest via the USPS, but who's counting?
