So my mom just brought this egg in. First picture is how we found it. Second is what popped out when I pulled on the umbilical cord looking thing. What in the heck is this? It's pretty firm. Broke open the egg after and it looked pretty normal.

Any photos of what the egg looked like inside?

That is interesting for sure. Do you know how old that egg was?

It could be intestinal shedding that attached to the outer portion of the egg.

Do you provide oyster shell for your hens?

Do you know which hen laid the egg? Is she acting normally?

Provide her with some extra vitamins and see that she has a source of calcium free choice.

Egg looked perfectly normal otherwise. It was just laid sometime this morning but I'm not 100% sure which hen laid it. I *think* it was one of my buff orpingtons. They have grit but I haven't replaced their oyster shells in awhile.
