Omlet Door and Run/Coop Sand

I am looking at auto doors, and have a couple of specific questions, primarily the Omlet Door.

I use sand in both my coop and run. Because the Omlet run on a track, not a guillotine style, do any of you who have an Omlet door use sand, and do you have problems with it due to sand clogging up the track?

I am looking for an electric, not battery or solar operated door if possible. My door will be in an area that doesn't get direct sun, and I have a generator for power outages, so not worried about electricity.

Thank you for any advice and info.

We have an omlet door and our soil is sand. Yes, sand gets into the track as the chickens go in and out of the coop. We make it part of our daily cleaning routine to clean the track door. Ours is battery operated and the heat seems to suck the life out of them, requiring a monthly replacement.

Thank you. I like that they can be converted to electricity, but as much as I want one, I may have to go with a guillotine style. I am always cleaning sand out of the regular door track.

If you change it out, let me know what you decide on. Curious to know how the Omlet products accept door changes. It sounds like you have an electrical box in your run?

No, I am building a new coop now. The coop I have is just a manual door, and I am constantly cleaning sand out of the track.

I have sand in my dust baths but elsewhere is more clay-like. This is perhaps not the exact comparison you're looking for, but the biggest problem I have with substrate stuff interfering with my omlet doors is large/chunky things like bark chips, which can wedge in areas and either jam it or stop the door from closing all the way at night (issue with the space below the bottom track). Smaller particulates have never been a serious problem for my doors and the motion of the doors actually tends to push small things out of the way.

Thank you for your reply. That is good to know.
