If you breed a buff cochin to a white cochin what color will you have. I have no idea about this genetic stuff. If anyone has any more info on color genes I would really appreciate it. Thanks

So there is really no way of knowing until the chick is here? How do you know if the gene is recessive or dominate? I told you I had no clue.

I can understand the genetics if people speak really slowly and repeat themselves six times....lol. I tried to figure that out also but it is beyond what I can remember from high school science classes.
What someone told me a few weeks ago is that if I go through three weeks of incubation I could find out.

I totally can not figure out how to use it...

It really isn't that hard.

FIRST: Select the colour of the rooster as best you can. You can use either colour names or pictures.

SECOND: Select the colour for the hen in the same manner.

THIRD: Alter any known genes (Change gold to silver or vice versa; change blue to spash; etc.)

Click on "CALCULATE CROSSING" near the bottom left.

That will show you the genotypes possible with the selected genes, and the probability (percent of offspring) for achieving each genotype. This is followed by phenotypes, which are often less because more than one genotype can cause the same phenotype.

Additionally, you can watch the cock or hen as you change individual genes and gene combinations. You can learn a LOT this way.
