On killing cones and cutting throats

Angie, what did you cost you to build the wizbang plucker?

We spent $115 for the fingers and I think it was like $15.95 for the book. All the other materials my husband had on hand. He's big into collecting and keeping for later use, and it often comes in handy, like in this case.

It worked really well for us, we were suprised by how much time it saved us. I'll be doing a blog post on how he built his next week, we've had a lot of questions about it.

You can flip a chicken on it's back and sway it to being calm pretty easily, the neck break part is what most refer to as the "broomstick" method.

really cari? interesting is not the word I would use . . . I'm not too squeemish, but I would think that would be the method to use if you were starving and didn't have a knife.

Broomsticking. Usually done to rabbits (their heads stay intact) but certainly it would kill a chicken... Sad part is I am gettin older and the bending would kill me first, which the chicken would applaud..

I have done it this way, only you don't have to pull the head off. It's basically like chopping a head off the chicken, only the blood is contained. Here's a link to what it looks like in practice on You Tube. Please don't click the link if you don't want to see how to kill a chicken with the broomstick method.
