Freaking out...
The closer the time gets, the more I've read different threads, the more I panic.

I started with 6 Langshan/Aussie crosses...down to 3 eggs, as candeling showed 3 bad.
I'm using a forced air hova-bator (cause I didn't trust my skills in building one) with an auto turner.
I removed 2 trays today, so I could lay down the 3 and still turn them for the next 2 days or so. I've had a wet spong in there since the get go... This time I have no clue as to what the humidity is as I didn't have a guage, and I only used the merc. thermometer that came with the bator...set at 100 degrees.
Like I said the more I read the more I panic...ugh
At this point, I just hope they make it!

Anyone else due on the 5th?

Oh yea...
just to make things more complicated, I added 9 Serema eggs on the 20th (due the 10th) because they were delayed in the mailing...
(didn't want my eggs sitting longer than 7 days so I put them in first)

Ugh, I'm so buying a digital thermometer/humidity guage for next time, provided I can stand it this time! lol
I think I'll build a different brooder too, as the chicks will be smaller...

ok, slow down...you started a batch...due sept 5th....and on the 20th day of that batch you ADDED MORE eggs?? lost you on this...but then again its been along day....

what did your temp/humidity start at

Mine are due to hatch on the 7th.

I would be concerned about the second set of eggs you added 9 day later...those may suffer from the higher humidity needed for the hatching ones on the 5th.

Wish I had more experience with incubation and this issue. Good luck to you.

Ceta...yeah I think I recall we I put mine just after you....good luck....ok, its late here for me that is...have a good one.

hey ceta...just noticed as I was leaving your military....glad to know another. Im an ARMY MOM...two..son 11yrs in, getting ready to do a 3rd Iraq Tour...and daug...1yr in.

You should be fine with the 2 sets of eggs... I have done it before and haven't had a problem. They are alot tougher than we give them credit for. Just make sure that there isn't condensation on the eggs that aren't due until later. That could suffocate them. I have a set that are due on Friday, so right around the time yours are due. I'm sending you good hatching vibes!!!!

Best of luck!!!!!

Ok, I'll do my best to explain.

Medics...The first eggs were put in on the 14th and then I added 9 more on the 20th, 6 days apart... First batch is due to hatch this saturday Sept 5 or so.
(which is why I had to remove 2 turning racks for the 3 big eggs, lay them down and put a small piece of cardboard around them so IF they hatch, the lil ones won't get stuck under the remaining turning racks...which of course are still turning the Serema eggs)

Cetawin... I can't measure the humidity in there, and I'm afraid to open it and add anything as it's so close to the time (I'll mess up the temp)
There is a wet spong in there now...but, I don't know how to add anymore moisture without opening the thing or pouring/spraying water directly onto the hatching eggs... I didn't think that would be a good idea, unless you think it might help? And like you mentioned would it be bad for the eggs still there? UGH...

....so confused.

Chrystal... you are awesome. Thank you for that, its the only thing giving me a bit of hope for them...I'd feel aweful if they didn't make it because I didn't do a simple lil thing...
