On the mend, but still questions: UPDATE, 20 week old banty wormy as heck,

If you research worming you will find many recommendations on when to give the second dose. The second dose is only for the larvae, so I would not do it yet. I would give her time to get back on her feet. If you worm her at 14 days or even a little later , it would probably be just as good. Here is a link with info about worms: http://poultrykeeper.com/general-chickens/worming-chickens

I've read tinted yellow urates are the kidneys failing.

How yellow are they?
yuck.

I can't think of a comparison. not bright. not as yellow as the medicated water. not like sulphur or nustock. I'll post a pic in a few minutes when it arrives in email so I can download it here.

ok, this first pic of a dropping is after I picked it up with toilet paper. had to unroll it for the pic. some white urate, but some pale yellow

this pic is the scary one from a few days earlier:

thanks Eggcessive. will look at the link. Today is day 13 I think, or 14, I am hesitant to worm her.

eggessive, that is a great link - I have bookmarked it and learned some new stuff, which since I've been reading so much on worms lately surprises me.
thanks again.

I also think it is an interesting read--the part about ivermectin is outdated though--I have read where Dawg53 says it is now ineffective for worms because of it's overuse in treating mites. I hope that Mrs. Murphy doesn't have damage to her intestines from worms that she can't recover. We are all pulling for her.

mrs murphy spent a few hours outside in a second coop yesterday. it was breezy, 50 degrees, intermittently sunny. she went in and out of the little coop as evidenced by the droppings.
when I came home to retrieve her, she was sitting in the grass. feet cold. brought her in, she seemed disinterested in everything.

not interested in eating when I returned her to the kennel in the house, and not interested when I woke her up for an evening feeding.

She had a really restless night, or I did - the kennel is next to my bedroom and I could hear her shifting in the hay.

At 4 this morning, she did not greet me at the kennel door when I turned on the light and came to let her out, and when I brought her out she wouldn't eat anything and wanted back in the kennel. Mornings have been hard for her, but I expected she would eat a bit more, especially since her crop was only partly full last night.

she didnt.

Today's weather is High winds, rains and cool temps, so I won't leave her in the outside coop today. I think I will need to cull her when I get home from work today. she has moved into the territory of enduring and no longer seems to be trying to live.

I knew there was such a small chance for her because she was soo thin. But her droppings were indicating she was eating and digesting, and yesterday afternoon the urates were white. this must be the improvement right before death.

I'll post again if she has by some miracle improved during the day - I will be gone for 13 hours and back around 6:30 pm, so it is a long day for her. and me.
thanks everyone for all the suggestions and support.

Very sad to hear.

Have you been giving her the Corid? That might have been what was making her feel better rather then the antibiotics. Pulling for her.
