...around the permiter of the coop...it needs to be attached securely all the way around, right? The thing is, I have the cloth up around the chicken run. Can i attach the 'skirt' by sewing it (the new mesh) with some wire to the existing mesh on the coop? or can it be loosely attached on the posts only (though I'm afraid that could leave some gaps). I'd bury it under ground, of course.
Here's some pics so you can see what I mean.

I'm not sure you can see the apron but we attached an 18" piece of hardware cloth to the bottom board, on the outside, of the run. We used washers and screws to attach it. Then we anchored the cloth to the ground with landscape cloth pins. Grass has grown through the wire now. It was easy and no digging required.

Here is our coop/run that we just finished. I think you could just overlap your exsisting hardware clothe with some new and run it out. We ran ours out 2.5 feet. I filled in with dirt and planted native grass/ wild flowers. We attached our hardware clothe with washers and screws, then added a trim piece on top (done after pic).

Hope that helps.

Yep we did add on the corners. The posts are also set in 2 feet of concert, so that would deter any thing digging there as well. Plus my girls are tucked into their "Fort Knox" coop at night, just as a precaution.

LOOOVE your set up. DO you have other pics of your coop? Ever had issues with the hardware cloth skirt like this? My coop is on wheels and I am making a run in, but since the thing is to move around I need to put the HC like a skirt also and pin it down.
