Well, the rain finally stopped and hubby went out to start working on the foundation of the coop. Now, he had been told that he was over-engineering the thing and it didn't need the 48 inch concrete footings he'd planned, but, well, he's a bit stubborn. He said he wanted it to be able to withstand a Category 5 hurricane. Not that we've ever had a Cat 5 hurricane in NH that I recall but...

So he rented a post hole digger, and toweid it here. Started digging. Yeah, they don't call this the Grantie State for nothing! Could not get a straight hole dug no matter how he tried! Many hours, and much swearing later

, the digger went back, the hole and a half got filled in and we now have a lovely pile of gravel in the driveway! Hoping to get that spread so we can actually start building with wood this weekend. If it doesn't rain again!

Oh, well, live and learn, right? Just glad I didn't listen to him and get the chicks yet!!

Got the gravel spread and leveled. Floor frame built and joists going in now. The base should be done today, and maybe, just maybe roof trusses and/or walls started. Hubby is thinkin he may use the nice flat floor to build the trusses to make it easier. At any rate, we are making progress! I can see chickens in the not too distant future!!

Pictures of the progress probably tomorrow.
