? on when to move chicks

Junebuggena, thanks (again). This is going to be quite an adventure! Sometimes in life, we have a plan to go down one path...then "life happens" and we discover a different path (which is better for us). Maybe this is what's going to happen. It's rather difficult to consider selling them at this point. Call me a softy "mother hen". To be continued....

You can always keep those girls and start selling your extra eggs, once they start laying, to help cover the cost of this little mix up. With the cost of grocery store eggs these days, you may find a good market for your farm fresh eggs. The boys will still be good to eat, just not what you were expecting. With a straight run, about half will be male and half will be female. Although, some hatcheries will throw their extra males into straight run orders, skewing the averages.

Good idea - we have already had neighbor's to inquire about eggs...hmmmm.. We got chicks from Murray McMurray. ??? We sure have no idea what to expect. But they are adorable!! Such busy little chicks. They are already eating from my hands.
