I have some 5 month old long tail birds that I will soon need to provide nest boxes for. A couple of the pullets have semi-lengthy tail feathers. What type of nest box do others use to accommodate this?

Thank youA pullet has that kind of tail! Not a cockerel! Wow!!! That is impressive!
I don't have a good answer for you. I see some potential problems. My thoughts would be something like a milk crate filled really full of bedding set up so the tail could hang out if they set sideways to the wall, but I can see some problems with that. Certainly an open topped nest. Or maybe do they nest on the ground? No real nest or a nest only a few inches high?
You might check with the APA and see if you can find a club that specializes in long-tailed birds. Or maybe Google a specific breed club. If you do get an answer I'd appreciate some feedback on this thread. It is an interesting practical problem.
