Once and egg eater always an egg eater?????

I had an egg eater also. Sometimes they can be broken by using the above techniques. I had great success by blowing out the yolk and putting a hot sauce inside. Put that egg back into the nestbox and wait. I found that egg broken open with the hot sauce spilled out... never had another egg eaten since then. I only had the one hen eating eggs though so that helped.

Sometimes they cannot be stopped and you have to cull them; or take a chance on other hens learning that behavior from them - that's a bummer because you start to lose most of your eggs.

We ended up having to make rollaway nest boxes with lexan tubs. We cut 4" of the lids and snapped them on the downhill side of the slope. We put a piece of scrap wood under the back of the tub to make the slope. We lined the tubs with leftover berber carpet blocks for them to sit on. I can see the eggs in the front of the clear tub but the girls can't reach them.

I'd love to see pictures of this set up - just for future reference.

Thats pretty neat!! I've moved her into another lot, she was in a small pen with the rooster and another hen. I'm goin to see if the other hen is doing it too, If I get no eggs I'll know. If I dont find any eggs in the lot she's in now I'll know she's still at it also. I've got a extra jap rooster I may turn her and him out at our barn if she doesn't straighten out.. Dont want to sell her, dont want her to be anyone elses problem.
