Once and for all, please tell me about Eden Pure Heaters

Thanks, this helped a lot . . .the fireplace insert is something we had talked about, and will have to research again . . .LOTS of people use them around here because every year RK has a deal where you can "buy" the fuel you will need at a set price . . .not sure exactly how it works, but if they are doing deals like that, then they must be popular. . .\\

My husband is an electrician by trade, and he has told me the same thing about the kilowatt usuage and all that, but HELLLOOOOOO, I could care less about all that stuff, because I have a little bit of ADD and if its not something that I REALLLLLLLYYYYYYYY want to hear about, then its like swooooooooosh right over my head . . .I need NUMBERS, as in dollars and cents. If I do decide to go with them, then will stick with the Eden Pure brand. THAT is another thing that i was very curious about, because there are so many scammers on everything like this out there these days . . .plus we have a store right close that sells all the parts or whatever if you need them, so that is another plus on the Eden Pure brand.

I bought the Eden Pure heater a couple of years ago. People were coming in where I work and just raving about them.

I thought this is just what I need in my basement because kerosene is so much and I have to wait a while for the basement to warm up after I light it.

Anyway my basement is less than 1000 sq. feet. I ran the heater for 3 days and it never heated it at all. I was very diappointed but I took it back.

It seems there are different experiences with them.

Here's the deal. 1500 kilowatts is 1500 kilowatts and will put out 5100 BTU's. So they are no more nor less efficient than any other electric heater. Are they more efficient than propane or natural gas? Well, yes, because electric heat is 100% efficient vs. 80, 92, 93, 95 or 97% with gas heat. But whether they are actually CHEAPER to run depends on the price of electric vs. the price of whatever fuel you would be using otherwise.

You don't need to spend the money on an Edenpure heater if you find the same thing in a different brand that is cheaper.

On another note, if this is something you will be using a lot and you have ductwork, you might consider installing an electric plenum heater on a dual-fuel electric panel so you can use the electric at a much cheaper rate (usually around half the price of regular electric rate).

Oooh, reading backwards, I see gambler beat me to it.
