I have a Whiting True Green sexed pullet, is it a cockerel? Pics 1-3
Also ordered a California Grey that I don’t know if it’s that or maybe a white leghorn? It has no barring but a splash of grey on one wing...pics 4,5
Both came from a hatchery in BC that brought them in from Murray McMurray in US.
They were hatched mid February. Got them Feb 15 and they were between 4 and 8 days old (whiting around 4, Cali around 8).

If they are six weeks old than the first one is definitely a male. Second one looks to be female. She is not a California gray, these are barred 😊

They are around 8 weeks old now. And last week I noticed the Whiting (red one) start to get longer tail feathers...
I was suspicious 🤨

When I realized the white one isn’t going to be barred, it can’t be California Grey (which is what I ordered). I actually started questioning if it’s just going to develop the barring later on because I didn’t order a white chicken. 😂
So I am wondering what it is? Just a white leghorn?

She doesn't look white either. Maybe splash? (as in blue/black/splash)
Can you contact the place where she came from and ask them? Maybe you could get a refund for your Whiting too.

Barred chicks have mostly black fluff.

She has a spot of black on one wing so she might be a splash of some kind! Good to know about the black fluff. I’ve never had a barred chicken. She had light greyish, yellow fluff.

The farm is taking back the Whiting true green and giving me an olive Egger chick instead. Not ideal as I didn’t want to raise another baby’s this year and wanted to integrate them all at same time to the older chickens, but, life eh?
The farm and apparently the hatchery said they do not know what the white chick is. They think she could be a Whiting true blue but we will have to wait until she’s laying to find out. Her name is Pickle so we call her Mystery Pickle now.
