I have 10 chickens that are now about 10 weeks old.

One of them seems to always lift its wings up slightly and sort of spread the primary feathers. None of the others do this, and four of them are the same breed. This bird otherwise seems healthy and alert. I checked underneath its wings (are those called "wingpits"?) , and there does not seem to be anything wrong there.

Is this a sign that is something is wrong, or is this just a weird bird?

Thanks,

Neil

Is it hot where you are at? My chickens kind of hold out their wings when they are overheated.

BTW I call them wingpits too.

If it seems fine otherwise, I would bet it is just warmer than the others and is trying to cool off. I have about 25 chickens and I can go out and only 1 or 2 will be cooling with their wings spread and none of the other are.
