So I had one hatch out Tuesday, right on time, other four have not hatched. I'm thinking the eggs may have been old. Anyway, the one that hatched is very very spraddle legged, I put a little brace on, but the little thing can't seem to straighten it's legs out, he walks on his "hocks" or "ankles" whatever chickens have. I don't know what to do for the poor thing. It is the absolute cutest chick ever, and is suppose to be from really nice stock. I'm really bummed, I get one to hatch and it's "broken". I really really don't want to put it down. Has anyone ever seen this before?

He doesn't have the spraddle now, just the "can't straighten the ankles" out part.

I just finished with my first spraddle leg chick, but he was fine in 2 days...he was having trouble like yours though before I put a smaller brace on....I had to cut the bandaid lenghthwise, and then it worked fine...??? I'm sure someone will come along to help!!

My cute little silkie is the same way. I will have to try the bandaid? The other one is not doing the trick. It holds them together but maybe not close enough? My daughter helps give it water and lots of TLC. I pray it comes around, she is five and named it Fluffy.

It's like he can't even straighten his legs. Little fluffer is eating though, and got him to drink a bit.
