Everything is going great at my chicken coop: Michael’s healthy, my last batch of chickens are up and running, and soon we’ll be starting to build a new chicken coop! But I’m also excited about something else. The last couple days I’ve been noticing that one of my chickens named May after her mother, April (not the border but the chicken that represents her), was siting on the eggs more than normal. Finally today when I went to collect the eggs, she wouldn’t let me take the four eggs underneath her, and wasn’t afraid to peck me. Of course I got them eventually, but I am looking forward to using her broodiness and having chicks this summer! I’ll try and stay updated as this summer got even better

The ideal time to raise chicks is now rather than later in the summer. If you have fertile eggs, let her hatch them out. Don't expect her to be broody on demand later in the summer.
There are some sneaky things you can do to put hen to work. Let her sit on some eggs, even non-fertile eggs for a few days. Then go to feed store and buy some chicks. At night, do the switch-a-roo.:old
Post some pix,,, Each one is worth 1000 words:)
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:
