One EE chick making a weird chirping noise, not peeping?

Well it was mad because it was in a time out for picking on it's hatching mates!

hmm. It almost sounds like something is hurting...particularly when you pick it up. I'm not sure =( Did it maybe hurt itself? I just don't know enough about chickens to know...I'm sure someone else will see this though =)

Mine only squeak when petted on the back. If I pet the chest or cheeks, they don't squeak. I think it is the predator thing. My adults don't like being pet on the back, unless they squat for me. But they love being pet on the chest and face.

No it's running around like normal. It was showing it's dominance over some of the other chicks and making that noise while it was running around pecking at them so I had it on my lap as a time out for a few minutes. It's definitely not hurt/

I wouldn't worry then, sounds like they are working on a prelimanary pecking order. My 3 are doing it, comical to watch.

How much is too much when it comes to establishing the order? They are all seeming pretty feisty this morning!! lol
