I have a broody who sat on 4 eggs. Only 3 were fertilized (seen after candling). Two hatched 2 days ago. The third pipped yesterday but it has been over 24 hours and no further activity. Not moving, not peeping. I can see inside the pip and the chic has moved. The hen has moved off the nest with the 2 live chicks. Now what?
It's cooler out today, so I carefully brought the egg indoors and put it under an ecoglow. I don't have an incubator. I am worried that it will dry out before it hatches. Now what?

It's been under the ecoglow for about 20 minutes and now has begun peeping!

Not all eggs result in viable chicks. My guess is that it is done.
Even if it could hatch, an ecoglow doesn't provide adequate humidity to prevent shrink wrap. When a setting hen abandons the nest, 95% chance nothing is left to hatch.

Well by this time it probably had hatched or died, but if its still alive try to help it hatch and use some warm moist towels or paper towel to moisten the dried outmshell and membrane, it might live or might not but at least your doing all you can to save it.

Here is the update. I carefully peeled the chick out of the egg. The membrane was like leather and was stuck to the chick and not the shell. Chic is alive and well. I kept it under the ecoglow for the night and tucked her in with momma and the other chics this morning. I check every 30 minutes on them! Momma just took it right in and all seems well for now. keeping an eye out because little one isn't walking around as well as the ones 2 days older of course!

How is the egg?..Did it hatch yet?.
Never use wet towels as water actually has the opposite effect on eggs. It draws out moisture, not adds to it.
As well as the effect of evaporative cooling. However at this age it wouldn't matter a great deal.

Congrats.
The tough membrane stuck to the chick is the shrink wrap I referred to in the dry atmosphere under the ecoglow.

No, during hatching if water is placed it draws out the moisture so can shrink wrap the Baby in the egg..:frow
Understand?...:idunno
