My brahmas are hatchery stock and I think they are bred more towards egg production than a breeder quality brahma, but that's just a guess.
The girls are 11 1/2 months old. Most of them started laying in September/October. Two of the girls didn't start laying until they were 9 months old - about two months ago.
When wintertime came, there was a slow down of about 10 days and then they all went back to laying regularly.
The 11 eggs a day has been consistent since I started keeping records, in mid-January.
When I was trying to decide on a breed to get, I tried MPC's breed selector tool and you couldn't pay me to keep the three breeds it recommended! I decided on the brahma from reading different chicken books and Henderson's Chicken Chart.
Chickapooh In one way I hope you're right and someone's taking a break. In another, I'd really like a broody.
