One egg not hatching

5 of my chicks are three days old and 2 are two days old. One egg is still not hatching. I candled it today and saw the baby structure. No movement or sound. The nest smells terrible because of baby poop and the broody tried to get out with the chicks. I kinda forcefully locked it in the nest. What should I do now to save the unhatched chick?

It might have died if the hen leaves the nest it means she’s done with it. I had a duck hatch some eggs but one didn’t and she left the nest when I candled it, it was about a week behind where it should’ve been, so we removed it since she’d left it for over two days.

Whenever the mom's moving a bit, she's keeping the egg with her. Is there still any chance?

Perhaps, but if she abandons it again, I’d say it’s not likely.

Let mama off the nest. You can't just block her in. She will abandon all of her chicks if you do that. The egg almost definitely is dead. You can carefully break it open, but even if it were alive it probably is too weak to live. Let mama and her healthy babies go.

Yesterday I saw air gap while candling. Today I can't see anything. Does this mean the chick is dead?
