X2(Chantecler), Yep I was thinking the same thing when they mentioned Canada one of only 2 (recognized)breeds developed in Canada.
purpose: Eggs, Meat M/F weight:8.5/6.5(US weights not metric) eggs/rate of lay: Brown Large Good; 120-180 Temperment: Docile, but some lines can be variable
Notes: Best in cold climates; not recommended for hot regions
Good winter layer; has almost no wattles and a tiny button comb; has well-fleshed breasts

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group. There are a few which are great for new chicken parents, including getting started keeping chickens and predator protection.

You might want to also pop in to the Canadian Thread and say hello.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
