In the new, 16x16 coop I'm going to partition off a 4x8 section for a growout/integration facility at floor level and was thinking of putting the brooders for young chicks on the wall at a convenient shoulder level. Would it be best to make one, huge, 2-8 brooder or have it sectioned into 2, 2x4 brooders?

I'm thinking that though it might be easier to take care of one huge space, having two would be more flexible.

What would you do?

I'd build a big one, with a way to internally partition it at need - for brooding asynchronous hatchings or breeds with big size/growth disparities.

Unless you plan on mobile brooders to use as chicken tractor-types while doing integration. Then smaller is more manageable.

I've done both. Neither is right for every situation.
