Heya,

Very new to chicken raising and just had a question regarding 2 day old chicks.
One chick keeps shouting loudly but sporadically. They have water. Are eating normally. No
Obvious health concerns and temp in brooder is fine. But one just keeps peeping loudly at random.
From what i have read up on it sounds like a distress call but i didn't know if it is normal or not!
Is there something i could be missing? Help!

In my own experience I have sometimes had a loud peeper, they usually quieten down though. Are you sure it knows where the food and water is and that it can move in and out of the warm spot easily? If you’ve only got two chicks you could put a soft toy or feather duster in for snuggling up to, just make sure it’s not touching the heat lamp.

You state temp is ok, you should be between 95 and 100 just under the heat source. With cooler area to escape to. Make sure there is not a draft. Sprinkle feed so it bounces to create excitement to eat. Don’t use cold tap water I always fill bottles so water warms up a bit. cover enclosure half way to trap some heat. If you have ticked all the boxes then yes, sometimes you get a inconsolable chick. It’s hard to hear, I have put a little mirror in there maybe it doesn’t care for the roommate. That did work for mine. Also, I had to put CNBC on for a group of chicks once. kid you not. I used my Alexa.
