Unfortunately, a fox got 3 out of 4 of our hens yesterday. I thought they were all gone, but one came flying out of the tree today! I’m obviously happy that one made it, but I feel terrible for her, now all alone in the coop/run. Any suggestions on how to handle? Should I try to find another hen(s) to keep her company? I figured I’d get chicks again soon, but they won’t be companions for several months, especially given the time of year. Would love to hear, similar experiences and thoughts!

You might be able to integrate them sooner than you think. After all, she's all alone. She'll start following the dog or cat for company.

Set them up so the hen and chicks are separated by chicken wire or hardware cloth. When the hen seems to want to be with the chicks, first feed them separately, then let the chicks be with the hen for awhile, then separate again. Keep an eye on them.
