One legged hen due to frostbite. Need help/advice (graphic)

Do the right think and think of what is best for the bird, not about how badly you feel about the situation. She is suffering, she has no possible chance of recovery. She deserves a merciful end instead of lengthy suffering.
X2. I have never dealt with anything that bad.

One foot? Yes, they can deal. Two feet, up that high? I seriously doubt it.

Thanks for the response. I don't want her to suffer, so culling her may be my only option.

Any idea how it happened? Anything Illinois sees shouldn't cause frostbite of that severity in a healthy bird.
I'm not sure. We had a cold snap a few weeks ago and had temperatures in the negatives for a while. I visit her coop several times daily and I'm shocked I never noticed her. There are fifty chickens being kept with her and I thought they were all fine, but I guess I never caught it. I feel horrible about not catching it earlier.
