One month brood along / integrate along - from feed store to coop

I'll be interested in hearing how you do with a Barnevelder. I only have one and she is the most skittish chicken I've ever had.

This recent little flock of 3 now is really friendly and I think it's because I spent so much more time with them due to Blue's health issues. They all run up to me the moment they see me.🤣
Flan the Barnevelder is still a pretty nervous bird and yet she's also the most willing to go off by herself and explore, so I'm fairly certain she'll grow up to be a skittish and independent adult. Only time will tell!

I've been hand feeding treats 2x a day to the chicks so they do spend quite a bit of time eyeballing me to see if there's anything in my hand, though Floof is the only one who will actively come over to encourage me to get the treat jar.

Just an update for fun. Chicks are a bit over 3 months now, and some are tall as some of the adults, but of course need to fill out length x width quite a bit more. ;) Flan the Barnevelder remains the smallest. I am tickled that Flair the Crevecoeur kept a couple white feathers in her crest - it's not to breed standard but it's a bit of extra spice for me.

Such a pretty flock!!! Just got first egg from my newbies, a blue one from Woodstock. When are yours expected to start laying?
My birds tend to start laying late, though maybe it'll be different this time as I got these chicks 2 months earlier than usual, so days will still have some length to them as they mature. Would be nice if a couple started by September but I'm not holding my breath haha.
