I got 4 new Ancona ducklings on Sunday. One is 5 weeks old, one is 4 weeks old, and the other two are now a week old. My question is about the oldest one, the 5 week old. I noticed today that her wings are bald, but only the lower end toward the end of the wing. She started getting her feathers in just in the past couple days, so could that be it, or should I be concerned? I stay home all day and they are within eyesight almost all day long (except for picking my son up from the bus stop, which takes about 10 min), and I have never seen anyone try to pick on her or anything. They all seem to get along really well from what I've seen.

Should I be worried that she is being picked on?

What happens is they get feathers to fit them at that time and then they grow like gangbusters and outgrow their clothing. If feathers are coming in, your baby is probably losing down at the same time..

I don't think you need to worry. Check closely to make sure there aren't any lice or mites, but I don't expect you to find any. They can go through some pretty scruffy looking stages as they grow,

I've checked her over, and she doesn't seem to have any mites or anything. She definitely is losing her down, b/c the past couple days there has been a ring of down in the bathtub after their "baths".
