Hi everyone,
I've been stalking the forum for quite some time now and decided to join since I'm actually going to get my chickens this spring.
My name is Karen and I live in Smithville, TX which is about 35 miles SE of Austin. I have 12 acres and plan to eventually have a couple head of cattle, goats, maybe a donkey or two, and of course chickens.
I started building a chicken tractor with an enclosed run but have decided to not move it around and allow the chickens to forage in a fenced area that is about 1/2 acre. I plan to start with 3 layers and 1 rooster to help keep the girls safe as we have owls and hawks. We also have raccoons, snakes, coyotes, and probably many other predators that I don't know about so everyone will be put up safely each night.
I'm looking forward to "meeting" all of you and to keep learning everything I can from all of your experiences.
Karen
