One more quick question before lockdown tonight.

It might have starved to death or dehydrated if it couldn't get out of shell within 3 days of due date. Or perhaps there was a temp spike and it died because it didn't have shell to protect it completely.

If its pipped and dosent come out within 24 hours, peel off shell in air cell area, wet membrane and see if there are large veins. If no large veins its safe to slowly start peeling away at the membrane to get the chick out. I like to peel enough just to push the membrane down around chick just in case the yolk sac is still attached I can slip membrane back over him and give him more time in shell.

Thank you. Sorry for not responding sooner. I didn't get notifications of more posts. I will remember this. I was afraid to check on some of the others because I didn't want to hurt the chicks. The one that we were talking about - there were no veins around the air sack. Sylvia
