One Noisy Poult

So, out of my seven poults I just hatched a few days ago, there is one blue slate that will not quiet down, ever! And it isn't a nice, quiet peeping like the others, but instead PEEP PEEP PEEEEEEEEEEEEEP x 24/7. I don't think it could be a temperature problem, all the others are content. Do I just have a noisy baby? Even trying to keep the little one out cuddled against me doesn't quiet him or her. The poult knows how to eat and drink, (chicken chicks helped teach their silly, gangly hatch buddies) and I've seen it doing both a few minutes ago. I had read in another thread that something to perch on sometimes helps with noisy poults, and they all love the small log I put in there with them, but it doesn't help the one screamer.

Hi!, I cannot answer your question as I am new to turkeys ... but.... you made me laugh because I had the same issue with one of my Royal Palm poults. I went into the kitchen the other night to get some water and I heard this loud, very insistent peeping... I opened the door to the garage where I am brooding them and was sure something horrible had happened... when I looked in the box everyone looked fine... I thought the same thing... maybe they were cold... but nope every one was spread out relaxing except this one .... S/he was running around the perimeter making a racket... sort of like when chickens are playing the keep away game... except there was no one chasing the little fuzz ball. After about 10 minutes s/he finally settled down and dozed off... I would say just from experience with my chickens some are just more vocal than others... as long as nothing is wrong I decided not to worry....

Lol, I guess I shouldn't worry and just invest in a pair of earplugs! I have a housemate who is is the lightest sleeper on earth, so a noisy chick can be problematic. I solved the issue by moving the brooder into my bedroom when she goes to bed. The poult and I can have a snoring/cheeping contest, though the judge is my cat, and she probably won't tell me who made the most noise! I have two brooders for my poults and chicks, and separated them by noise. The quiet ones get to stay in the living room brooder
