One of lifes mysteries solved

Ok here locally anyway.

I have always wondered why nobody around here goes outside, we live out in the country and yes there are bugs, heat in the summer etc etc. When one lives in the country these things happen. Today it was 80-ish and a super nice day. Now on to the life mystery.

One of our very large neighbors actually came outside and was sitting on the swing behind their house, we have not seen her outside since last fall! After she was sitting outside awhile I saw two vultures overhead. No lie, they were right over their house. I was rolling on the ground laughing............... Now I know why some people never go outside.

At my dad's house there is an old dragline (part of coal-mining, very tall object) that when ever my dad (who is older and kind of fat) is doing yard work, will have 2 or 3 turkey vultures sitting there watching him. Anyone else nothing, dad they are watching. So they do it here too.

I always move quickly when they appear to assure them (and me) that it's not "time" yet.

Many years ago when I rode my horse at an isolated place called Spy Rock, I always had buzzards circling high above me. Even when I rode in the dense forest a circling hoard would magically appear a few minutes after I appeared from the under the trees. My husband always said he could locate me by the buzzards. Thus this particular mountain clan came up with the saying, "When buzzards fly" as a way of saying, 'yeah right, sure you will'.
