Sadly, one of my 2 chickens was eaten last night by a raccoon. After I secure my coop, can I get another friend for her? Should it be a young chicken or an adult? Will she attack the new guy? Not sure how to proceed.....

How old is your current hen? Yes a pecking order will have to be established but after that they should be fine.

I think you can get a new friend but try to make a same age if you can

I'd get her a friend but make sure to get rid of the raccoon before you get too many more.

At my local feed store I have a choice between 2 scraggly looking Rhode Island Red adult hens, some 3 week old chicks or some 6 week old chicks...... What do you think?

I'd go for the RIRs.
