I just noticed it. She's a Faverolles. She isn't limping, the foot is not sore if you touch it, the skin color is normal, no redness, no scab, and it is not hot.

The swelling is at the joint where the toe joins the foot. When I first noticed it, I was afraid it might be bumble foot, but after examining her, I wonder if I should just keep an eye on her.

Any comments cheerfully and gratefully accepted.

sounds similar to something my BR had a while ago. He had a tiny cut under her toe & there was bedding & dirt packed in it. We cleaned it out & the swelling went down.

Thank you for posting, Kelly. I'm glad your BR recovered. When I examined Suzy, I had my husband hold her, so I could look at the bottom of her foot, too. I couldn't see anything unusual. There's no wound to clean out. No scab or plug to remove. I really thought there'd be some sign of an entry wound that needed tending. I don't know what to think.

If bumble foot wasn't so potentially dangerous, I wouldn't be worrying so much. I guess I will just take a cup of coffee and some chicken snacks out on the patio and spend some time staring unproductively at her foot.

I can hear them waiting out there for me, making little noises. At least they aren't pecking at the door, yet.
