One of my chicks got out :(

Just got home from my parents house and one of my chicks got out and my dog/cats got to her. Super sad, my husband is taking me down to the tack and feed store tomorrow to get another one. Also after I finished picking her up and getting rid of her I noticed that one of my dogs Sinclair has a nasty open sore in between his toes. Poor baby had a fox tail cutting into him for who knows how long. Today is not my day.

I'm sorry about your chick - and that you dog was injured. One thing I've learned since I've had chickens is that loss is a part of it. Chickens don't have long life-spans anyway - and they're prone to all kind of illnesses, injuries and predators.

So sorry! Dogs can be such poopers. We kept ours in the kitchen behind a gate when the chicks were in the brooder in the house, but every time we left, I was sure I would come home to carnage. We have been lucky so far. I hope you are too from here on out!

that's the thing i really don't like about chickens. it seems disaster is lurking at every moment whether it is disease or attack or weather.

chickens just look for ways to die.... I have a mountain loin hanging around, So I would love to just have to deal with dogs..... Hope it makes you fell better lol
