My geese are kinda the snowplows... they valiantly go forth into the deep-but-not-so-deep snow and make a path for the chickens...

Infested

When i took this photo on Tuesday I noticed that Hattie's eyelids were swollen.

I brought her in this morning and discovered that Hattie has mites/fleas.

Don't watch this unless you want to be itchy.

She has been treated with permethrin. When I returned her to the coop, Lady Featherington thought to challenge her. Hattie put her down quickly. There is still fight in the old girl.

She weighs 2.02 kg, essentially the same she weighed at last check-in so no further weight loss this winter.

Why not name her after a famous catcher?

Because a backstop encompasses all catchers in the game. Not just the best. She’s that good at catching treats!

Soon be Easter. Hopefully it will be lovely weather - usually it’s a lovely weekend here.

No, my birds are still missing. I can’t watch them all when they free range my property. And when I have to leave for town, they are on their own for hours.

Mine are. You can get wired versions, but I move mine around from time to time so battery works better for me.

Oliver is back home. He had to have 3 teeth out. He's had antibiotics and pain killer by injection. He has to have metloxicam on Friday for a week.

I have given him a probiotic with soft food for now.

The ladies at the vets fell in love with him. He was really good apparently.
He is 3 and a half kilos now and his skin and coat is in mint condition.
They said he's between 4 or five.
It's possible he was the kitten that jumped into my arm's, 4 years ago.
I went back looking for him but couldn't find him

The lady that rescues animals thinks that's why he came to my garden.

He conned the ladies into giving him cooked chicken. He's got a lot of fans

Wonderful. I'm so glad he did so well.
