One of my ducks has angel wing**UPDATE**He's fixed!

If they both have angel wing, then just put the stocking over both wings. Remember, the hose has to be snug enough to hold the wings in place and you will likely hae to adjust it every day.

See above on feed. The protein is too high. Get some Triple Duty or all purpose 14 to 16% feed. Not layer, though.

I would recomend using medical tape....fold the end of the wings with the primary feathers under the wing like it would set naturally and then take the tape and wrap just the wing.....I have done this 4-5 times and it worked fine. Also start using a 15-16 percent grower-finisher when the ducklings are 2 wks old and you probably wont have any more problems....do NOT feed layer to immature ducklings...

I had two young ducks that had angel wing. I used vet wrap and just wrapped each wing while holding the wing together in its naturally folded state. It was kind of cute - the vet wrap was purple but you couldn't really see much of it because with the duck's wings kind of under its feathers you could just see a little purple color. My DH saw them and didn't know I had wrapped them and said "Oh look, that one has some purple feathers".

I did learn after the original wrapping kept slipping off wing to get it over the curved "shoulder" part of the wing - meaning you have to wrap it over the hooked-area where it joins the body or it will just slip off the wing.

Left it on for a week - saw the tips of the wings growing out from the end of the wrapped area which I had left open for the wing to grow - took it off and they were fine. Perfectly healed wings on both.

It did take me awhile to figure out how to wrap the wing so that the duck could still use their wing - flap it - fold it back close to body but once wrapped it was as if the duck didn't even notice.

It was funny because I cut up some of my mom's tight whatever you call them. I put it over his wings his body from the shoulder to a little past the wing, I think it will work.

Now his little jacket won't stay on his body. He is doing what my dog does when she does not like something.
edit:fix spelling

That's why I used vet wrap and just carefully wrapped the wing. When I initially tried wrapping around the duck's body, he threw himself on ground, thrashed around like a lunatic, got up, fell over till I took it off. Once I had wrapped only the wing he didn't seem to know it was on there and went about the next week as if nothing were different. Like I said, with just the wing wrapped, he could still flap them up and down while running around and swimming. I left the wing tip end open so the growing wings could grow through the end which they did. When I took the vet wrap off there were new longer wings with a lot of the waxy stuff that's on new feathers/quills and at first it was a little heavy and the wing drooped but as soon as he preened his wings they were good as new. I think that was the reason they started drooping and turning out in the first place - just too heavy for his little body. My ducks were only three weeks old when this occurred. All of my chicks and ducks free range (well the ducks are in large fenced open-top yard/run for their own protection from my dog) so I find that they feather much earlier than cooped up birds in brooders. The same ducks are now 8 weeks old and have all of their drake coloring and curly drake tail feathers. I posted a pic of them on your thread about Rouens and how to tell male from female.

thanks for pics.
I got some blaze orange vetrap. It stays opn him. He looks like a poodle, after part of their body has been shaved.
