One of my girls ate a frog 😳

@WallyG74, you’ve got scorpions in Mississippi?? Being in Louisiana basically makes me your neighbor...without question, if I run across a scorpion, I will lose whatever ā€œmarblesā€ I have left!!!
I’m not an expert but it’s a fairly localized vein of very sandy soil along the East side of Lauderdale County which borders the more prairie-like soil of west Alabama. Apparently these little suckers love the stuff! They are only about 1.5 inches long and very dark. I’m told the sting is like a bumblebee. We find them in the basement hiding under stuff and anything stacked in the yard is a haven for them. I had a stack of tin leftover from building my coop. I moved some of it and scorpions ran everywhere. From there it was a feast for my eager little hens!

One of mine had a mouse in her beak and the others were chasing her around trying to get it off her, so she stopped and did what can only be described as a ā€˜Seagull gulp’ and swallowed it whole....she was fine albeit a bit full in the crop for a while....always shocks people when they realise what true little dinosaurs they are šŸ˜‚
