One of my ladies died today

I dont know what happened. They were all fine yesterday. She fell off the roost and was in the poop, what a way to go. I feel so bad.

Oh, I am so sorry -- losing any animal is upsetting and traumatic. It could have been any number of issues or illnesses. Very recently I lost a parakeet due to washing a pond filter in the dishwasher -- the pondy spores floated throughout the house and Good Bye Birdie.

I am so sorry for you loss.

A rhode island red, I have another one also, so shes a loner now. Now I have 12. I wonder if they notice when someones missing?

I am so sorry!!! Interesting how much they mean to us, isn't it? I lost one of my hens (my favorite egg layer....Lula) 3 weeks ago (a hawk, we think), and I was stricken for a good 2 days, then settled into a funk for a week. I hope you feel better soon!!!!!!
