One of my Quail chicks has a puffy eye

It may have scratched it or been pecked a little too hard by one of the others. Keep an eye on it and at the first sign of any discharge from its nose separate it as that would indicate a disease as opposed to an injury. If it's only one eye then it's more than likely just hurt it. They are tough little birds so hopefully it will come right.

I would get Visine eye drops for conjunctivitis (pink eye) without pain medication or any steroids - had a runt quail chick get a runny eye stuck with all sorts of stuff from scratching his gunk eye - if it hard hard spots on/around his eye I would soak a qtip in warm water and place a droplet on the dry and hard stuff and let it sit for a minute or two before gently pushing it off and putting the Visine in the affected eye.

Good luck :)

Nothing is around it or anything just swolen hopefully he just got pecked and it will go away

Most likely what the others have stated...but Just be aware that there are such things as eye mites/lice and eye worms that get behind the eye. I read (somewhere in the oblivian of the internet PDF's) an article that related eye worms to the decline of the Bobwhites in the wild, Mississippies state, TexasAM, or some offical study that was years old?????

Heres a web search on the topic so take your pick and decide for yourself. lol...

I dont know if it would effect or affect Cots and/or other species, but I doubt that a parasite would be so selective; and with the popularized growth in the other speices...I guess it could be spread along if so happen the owner had an infestation in the area and it spread to the flock.

The eye mites....fairly common in some flocks as it is a mite.

It's been a while and all the others seam fine should I separate him from troop?
