So I have 10 mixed layers chicks that are just over 2 weeks old, no idea what they are but am particularly curious about my 2"big ones". Firstly anyone able to help me figure out what breed? They are larger than the others and have fluffy hairy legs. And secondly...one of the two started getting feathers by day 2...way before the others and has been mostly feather since about a week...but the "matching" chick is both smaller and still doesn't have hardly any feathers compared to the others and is a true "chicken" who resists being touched or held when the rest of them love to jump up and say hi. A little worried that maybe shes sick or not developing correctly.

First pic is "Grouse" super friendly lots of feathers, second is "Shadow" who seems to be quite behind.

I was wondering if one was maybe a different sex given how differently they were developing. I knew it was probably wishful thinking to think they actually managed to give us all ladies at a day old. More importantly as long as the other one isn't ill and is just a late bloomer I'll be relieved!

I got two Buff Orpingtons and one was always notably bigger than my other chicks. Still is. (When they were tiny, the others tried to crawl under her!). She feathered out a little sooner, too.

I think she is just older than the other birds. I don’t know enough to offer opinions on yours, but I don’t think the lack of affection means one is sick. If so, I’m in trouble with all four!
