One or two or three funny things your chickens did today.

My chickens love watermelon but the first time I offered canteloupe they were like...no, thank you. They were in their run at the time and it was funny to see them bunch up, trying to decide who would get the nerve to walk past the canteloupe first. Finally, one by one, they RACED past the offending canteloupe and bunched up at the other end of the run...lol...you'd think I had placed a bomb in their run! Nobody would go near it. So the other day I had run out of all their favorite treats and I had half a canteloupe in the fridge...I thought well, maybe they'll try it now...lord knows they will eat anything...I think they'd eat the buttons off my clothes if I let them! So I bring out the canteloupe and after some hesitation, each of them took one taste of the canteloupe. Seeing that nothing better was being offered, three of my girls wandered away...but Cornelia wanted to make a statement. She came over to me and SPIT her beakful of canteloupe out on my foot! Ummm...I don't think I'll be offering canteloupe anymore!!

That's so funny. My chickens will eat cantaloupe, but refuse to eat watermelon.

My chicken Peep always gets moody when she is going in to lay in egg and if anyone comes in the warm area and disturbs her she will hang you.
So any who, my two little almost pullets went in to get a drink and Peep was in there, Peep went over and started pecking them both and squawking really loudly!
Haha :)

One of the funniest things on our farm is our bantam seabright roo named Crow-Peep. In his mind he is the biggest baddest bird anywhere. He will stand toe to toe with any standard hen or roo, and usally the standards back down, and in doing so have created a fearless seabright. Now that you can see his personality the story...

Crow Peep is fearless, neither our black lab nor golden retriever scare him. So one day I'm outside wroking and I hear a racket comming from the chicken yard, not the normal clucking or squabbleing, but a high pitched, terror of a bantam seabright... Crow Peep was on the run!! He was running for his life and I for about 1 second I was concerned, until I saw the cause of the terror. My pet Pekin Duck, Snappy! Really, the mighty Crow Peep reduced to cowardace by a fat lazy duck. Because of this episode I have now free ranged the duck, Snippy and Snappy, to give Crow Peep the peace he deserves. However I have only added to his inflated ego because now Crow Peep will go to the fence and taunt Snappy and strut anf do the nanana booboo dance, and Snappy wil pace the perimiter waiting for his chance. I would love to have witnessed what caused this hatred between my fowl, all I know is the duck has not forgotten and Crow Peep feels he has won. Kinda has a Hatfield/McCoy ring to it.
