One out of 12 laying at night, on the perch

There may be something that is just not quite right with that hen internally that is causing this, whether a disease process or something else. I think about all you can do is watch and see how things go.

I had that happen at two different times for 2 weeks at a time. Soft eggs from the roost. All has been fine now since July. I think this happens a lot more often than people think because they will have eaten it early in the morning before anyone would see it. The only reason I knew is because I went to check during the night and sure enough there was a no shell egg on the floor. I wouldn't worry much about it yet if they are on a proper diet with extra oyster shell on the side.

Thanks to you both, that makes sense. I only noticed the shell-less egg because it fell in the poop gutter. I'm sure it wouldn't take much for someone to miss it. I'll keep my eyes open and try to figure out who is doing it!

For me it was the one I least expected. Was the one who started laying first at 15 weeks...maybe it was too early for her. She laid good for a couple of weeks and then bang...now they are the perfect little layers. They have only missed 4 eggs so far this month. I treat them like queens and they treat me like a king. LOL
