One Rooster and One Cockerl

I have one rooster, nine hens and someone wants to give me a cockrel (rhode island red). Will the two males fight? I have had the rooster for two years and he was an adult when he was given to me.

Is there a reason why you would want a second rooster? The present rooster would regard any adult rooster as a threat, and would most likely attack him. 1 rooster to 9 hens is a great ratio. It's just my opinion, but I think adding another rooster will only cause problems.

A rooster is mature. A cockerel is under a year old. They are typically hormonal, but not always.

I say there is a high chance of a few squabbles, but should settle it out without anyone dying.
