I agree with those that say find more hens or a new home for the roo, it's not worth the stress on your girls. We had 7 hens and 1 BR rooster.. he ended up killing 2 of our hens, a EE and a good sized BO
It's been over a month, maybe 2, since we butchered him yet the bald spots(from him mounting/mating) on a few of our hens are still there.
I currently have three hens and one young orpington rooster, and it seems to be an okay balance for the time being. As others have said, a lot depends on the rooster.
