Hello,
Wynonna, is around 4years old. She had fly strike a few weeks ago and while I treated her with soaks and removal of all fly larva . I also applied antibiotic ointment every other day to the wound. She seemed a bit lethargic, pale comb, but was eating normally. I took her for a check up this past Tuesday and vet gave her an antibiotic, Clindamycin. I mixed the powder with water and used a small syringe to administer very slowly. She must have aspirated some of the water mixture because she began to cough and gurgle, which has gotten worse. I continue to administer the antibiotic 2x's a day but attached a small bit of greased tubing to assure that it goes into her crop. I have done this before with my other hen who had sour crop.
I am unable to attach a video, but she sounds like a coffee makes as it is finishing brewing. She is breathing regularly but opens her mouth often. I'm not sure if I'm dealing with sour crop along with aspiration? Any thoughts or advice to anyone who has experienced this before. Thank you.
