I have a one week old Silkie chick that has a dark runny droppings about 3-4 times a day. They're both eating medicated chick starter crumbles, only one has the issue. Is this normal? Also wondering if I should be giving them anything else to eat or medications? They are strictly in the house in a brooder, they're handled quite often by all of us.

They are a little young to be handled by people and you really need to wash your hands before and after handling the chicks why not let them grow for a couple of weeks before handling them and yes I am aware how cute they are and everyone want's to handle them ....

Are you putting any Probiotic or Electrolyte in their water as this should help and if you have any Save-A-Chick this will do wonders in prolonging their life span ......

Our 25 week old pullet with her chicks and yes Our chicks get Save-A-Chick the very first day and Apple Cider Vinegar in the water and in week two Probiotic & Electrolyte in the water .....

Some of our chicks eating mashed up hard boiled egg's for breakfast ...
I do this 3 to 4 time a week and what a difference ....

They're growing and quite active, seem to have recovered. The one that had issues last seems to be slimmer than the other but hopefully it'll catch up. I've stepped up the cleaning of their small brooder to at least four times a day and disinfecting it once daily, hoping this helps. I might have more chicks this weekend, so I'm setting up another brooder to keep them separate for awhile.

Alright you should have your chicks with in a month or so of each other as it helps in the pecking order but again I have a 20 week old Spangled Russian Orloff Rooster who likes to push around a 2 year old rooster just because he is bigger then the older one and just funny to watch as there is really no fighting just pushing so far but I should probably separate them soon .........

I bet that is entertaining, here's hoping they don't come to blows and they'll get along with their shoving match. Hoping that the chicks will get along too, going to have to try when the youngest clutch gets a bit older, here's hoping my handful of eggs hatch!
