One woman against an army of hungry chicken-eating Predators

Ugh, snakes. I like pet snakes (my sister is asking that I start breeding broilers so I can sell her the chicks at cost for her python

), but the wild ones are just so annoying. Luckily, my little rat dogs take care of those guys. Plus, once the dogs hone in on a kill, the chickens run in for their snack, haha!

I saw a huge falcon swooping down into my yard once, aiming at my ducks. I've never seen my sister pull out a BB gun that fast and shoot. She clipped its wing and they never came back.

I read something really interesting, though, that might be of use to you. Maybe.

Some people use dried deer blood in their gardens to keep animals like rabbits and squirrels from eating their plants. I wonder if something similar could be done to keep other mammals away from your yard? I don't know, but it seems promising. I'm sure there are other bio-safe measures that can be taken to prevent more losses. I, myself, am trying to find new ways to keep my flock safe without using chemicals. Not everyone cares that much, but I like to keep things really natural. Most of the time, the solutions are simple, too.
